I am Nancy Manning, JD. I have worn several career hats that have guided me to this place on my path: the founding of Power Your Mission in 2014.
My hats: I am an attorney, certified mediator, trainer, facilitator, nonprofit and for-profit manager, and consultant. I am even a professional pet sitter! How might pet sitting be relevant to consulting, you might very well ask? It is the compassion and care I bring to this and to my consulting. In fact, “love” is one of the guiding values of Power Your Mission. (See Mission and Values)
I owned the Law Office of Nancy Manning for 25 years, with a primary focus of serving indigent Native Americans in Rapid City, South Dakota. I created the first mediation practice and training center in Rapid City, Common Ground Mediation and Settlement, and was the only service provider there for 15 years.
During my years in Rapid City, I served as a board member on three nonprofit boards but it wasn't until I first became an Executive Director in Austin, Texas in 2007 that I truly learned about governance because my job managing a nonprofit was contingent on the health of my board of directors.

Our team includes Dale Whistler, a sculptor, painter, and cartoonist. One of Austin's favorite artists, winner of three large public Austin Art in Public Places commissions, including "Nightwing," the "Bat" sculpture, a moving metal sculpture at the south end of the Congress Avenue Bridge which has become an icon for Austin.
He has enlivened public spaces all over town with colorful murals, like the fruits and veggies at Fiesta Market on 38 ½ Street and sculptures such as the changing art on the fork at the Hyde Park Bar and Grill, and the "muscle arm" at the Hyde Park Gym.
A UT art school graduate, Dale is enjoying his 40th year as a professional artist.
Dale joins the Power Your Mission team as our strategic planning Graphic Recorder.
“Because the record is large and therefore public, a person’s need to be heard and validated is accommodated as their expressions are captured on the chart. People can literally see their contribution to the whole which tends to increase individual participation and build trust among group members.” World Café.
Dale brings your nonprofit’s Vision to life.
